چکیده

We present NuSTAR spectral and timing studies of the Supergiant Fast X-ray Transient (SFXT) IGR J17544−2619. The spectrum is well-described by a ∼ 1 keV blackbody and a hard continuum component, as expected from an accreting X-ray pulsar. We detect a cyclotron line at 17 keV, confirming that the compact object in IGR J17544−2619 is indeed a neutron star. This is the first measurement of the magnetic field in a SFXT. The inferred magnetic field strength, B = (1.45 ± 0.03) × 1012 G · (1 + z) is typical of neutron stars in X-ray binaries, and rules out a magnetar nature for the compact object. We do not find any significant pulsations in the source on time scales of 1–2000 s.

J 17544 − 2619 : A new supergiant fast X - ray transient revealed by optical / infrared observations ⋆

One of the most recent discoveries of the INTEGRAL observatory is the existence of a previously unknown population of X-ray sources in the inner arms of the Galaxy. IGR J17544−2619, IGR J16465−4507 and XTE J1739−302 are among these sources. Although the nature of these systems is still unexplained, the investigations of the optical/NIR counterparts of the two last sources, combined with high en...

Monitoring Supergiant Fast X-ray Transients with Swift. Iii. Outbursts of the Prototypical Sfxts Igr J17544−2619 and Xte

IGR J17544−2619 and XTE J1739−302 are considered the prototypical sources of the new class of High Mass X–ray Binaries, the Supergiant Fast X–ray Transients (SFXTs). These sources were observed during bright outbursts on 2008 March 31 and 2008 April 8, respectively, thanks to an on-going monitoring campaign we are performing with Swift, started in October 2007. Simultaneous observations with XR...

Discovery of the orbital period in the supergiant fast X - ray transient IGR J 17544 – 2619

The supergiant fast X-ray transient (SFXT) system IGR J17544–2619 has displayed many large outbursts in the past and is considered an archetypal example of SFXTs. A search of the INTEGRAL/ISGRI data archive from MJD 52698–54354 has revealed 11 outbursts and timing analysis of the light curve identifies a period of 4.926±0.001 days which we interpret as the orbital period of the system. We find ...

INTEGRAL monitoring of the Galactic Plane in the last 5 years revealed a new subclass of High Mass X-ray Binaries (HMXBs), the Supergiant Fast X-ray Transients (SFXTs). They display flares lasting from minutes to hours, with peak luminosity of 1036 −1037 erg s−1 and a frequent long term flaring activity reaching an X-ray luminosity of 1033 − 1034 erg s−1, as recently detected by the Swift satel...
